Tips & Tricks:
- Location / address: Provarma, (zip code) 73003, but it’s better to use the Google Maps link, since house numbers and street names are limited in Greece. (Hyperlink).
- Open fires: After June 1, open fires outdoors are no longer permitted. This is, of course, due to the weather and the increased risk of fire. Please respect this rule.
- Safety Net: There are several dangerous elevation changes around the pool. To ensure safety, a safety net should be installed around the pool. For more details, see the video instructions (hyperlink).
- Cameras: We respect your privacy, of course. We therefore kindly ask you to unplug the cameras. Please plug them back in after your stay so that we can monitor our home remotely.
- WIFI: Wi-Fi is available in and around the house.
- The name of the Wi-Fi network always starts with www.livethegoodlife.eu (sometimes followed by an extension).
- Password: 65n43qH5R9G
- Toilet (paper): In Greece, it is customary not to flush toilet paper down the toilet. This is not a problem with very small amounts, but in all other cases, we kindly ask you to use the pedal bin. This is to prevent clogs..
- Keys: There are several keys available, almost all of which are color-coded. The color code on the key corresponds to the color of the sticker placed next to the lock.
- Black key: Driveway door - kitchen
- White key: Terrace door - kitchen
- Red key: Upper room door
- Green key: Lower room door
- Blue key: Pool house door
The remaining keys are located in the kitchen niche and are for the bicycles. - TV: There is a small TV in the kitchen that is connected to the internet. This allows you to use the TV’s SMART Apps. Another option is to connect your phone to the TV via an HDMI cable. This requires a USB-C port on your phone.
- Showering: The hot water for the showers comes from the solar water heater, located behind the pool. Especially outside of July and August, we recommend showering in the afternoon or evening to ensure you have nice, hot water.
- Air Conditioning: Both bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning units. If you need to cool the room down before bed after a hot day, please use the air conditioning responsibly and do not set the temperature lower than 25°C. Wearing warm pajamas under a comforter while the air conditioner is set to 20°C is, of course, a bit of a contradiction. The air conditioners operate only between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
- Mosquito repellent plugs: There are red mosquito repellent plugs on the windowsills in both bedrooms. If there are mosquitoes, insert a new mosquito repellent strip into the plug before going to bed. Unplug the device in the morning, as it can get quite hot.
- Bicycles: Feel free to use the bicycles. Please take good care of them, and if you encounter any problems, please let us know. If you get a flat tire, please patch it (or have it patched at the bike shop in Kalyves). The pump and charging adapters are in the far-right kitchen cabinet. For more details on using the bikes, see the video instructions (hyperlink). A “cable lock” is available to secure all bikes with a single lock. The key is in the kitchen niche. Realized that the Greek people are not used to have bicycles on the road (becarefull)!
- Food: If you happen to use anything during your stay that actually belongs to us, that’s no problem, just let us know afterward. Of course, this doesn’t apply to the welcome basket 😉. After your stay, we ask that you throw away any opened food items in the trash can and empty it into one of the containers in the village. This helps prevent pests. During your stay, please also make sure that food is kept out of reach of pests, this is for your own comfort (put it back in the fridge or seal the product tightly).
- Amenities: There are various amenities in the area, such as bars, shops, restaurants, etc. Here are a few tips:
- Supermarket: There is a small village store within walking distance in the village of Stylos for basic necessities. If you’re looking for something larger, the Syn.Ka in Kalyves is a great option, or one of the Lidl stores in Chania.
- Restaurants, see hyperlink
- Pharmacy: There is one in the neighboring village of Neochorio, recognizable by the illuminated green cross, located in the center of the village in the direction of Armenoi (hyperlink).
- Gas station: The nearest gas station is in Kalyves (hyperlink).
- Hospital: Vamos of Chania.
- Bank / ATM: The center of Kalyves is the nearest bank/ATM (hyperlink)
